Accounting Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:

We seek a talented Accounting Manager to be part of our growing team. This person will perform various transactional and supervisory responsibilities within the accounting and finance functions. The ideal candidate will have accounting experience in a similar capacity and industry.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Senior Director of Operations, the Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing the general accounting function. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for the month-end close process including journal entries, account reconciliations and other accounting related activities.  The ideal candidate would bring the capability and desire to support the evolution of our Accounting function in alignment with the growth of our organization.

  • Execute monthly close processes and tasks in a timely manner. Manage and maintain the integrity of the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data.
  • Create, maintain, and review balance sheet reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Oversee the Accounts Payable function and vendor payments against cash flow forecast.
  • Manage the Accounts Receivable function, including invoice generation and submission.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support grants program, including accurate coding of expenses in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), financial reporting, and preparation and submission of reports.
  • Conduct financial analysis, variance analysis, and performance metrics to support decision-making and operational efficiency.
  • Prepare supporting schedules and provide supporting documents for annual financial statement audit, state and annual registrations and filings.
  • Prepare supporting schedules for federal and state tax compliance and annual tax provision.
  • Assist in the preparation of various federal and state government reports.
  • Assist in the implementation of new systems, tools and technologies that reduce manual work, automate processes and/or improve internal controls.
  • Assist with various projects to improve financial reporting and reduce the monthly close cycle.
  • May assist with the preparation of the annual budget and periodic budget updates.
  • Assess transactions for proper accounting treatment, prepare relevant schedules as necessary to support accounting journal entries (e.g., leases, debt and capital transactions, etc.).
  • Manage Accounting staff; provide guidance, training, professional development opportunities.
  • Produce ad hoc reports, reconciliations, and analyses on an “as-needed” basis.
  • Build and maintain strong, respectful working relationships with all departments.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5-7 years of related accounting experience
  • An undergraduate or graduate degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA preferred
  • Strong computer skills required with proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
  • Experience with QuickBooks highly preferred; experience with Bill.com and Concur preferred
  • Strong knowledge of FAR, and experience with government grant/contract support ideal
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation and active listening skills, problem-solving skills.
  • Strong client-facing skills; ability to represent organization with professionalism
  • A strong dedication to teamwork
  • Ability to handle confidential information with highest level of professional discretion

POSITION LOCATION:

This is a hybrid position that will work at least 3 days per week in Frederick, Maryland at the Theradaptive headquarters, and the remaining time remotely.

 

SALARY:

The salary range for this position is $100,000 to $115,000 per year.
